A Governed Simulation Environment for Behavior-Change Coaching
Vynleads Research Lab — Technical Report v1. Authors: Vynleads Research Lab. Date: July 2026.
Abstract
We describe the Synthetic Lifestyle Lab, a stochastic simulation of whole-program behavior-change journeys with fully deterministic replay, built and operated as commercial infrastructure. The environment generates cohorts of labeled synthetic personas who progress through the stages of a wellness journey modeled on the company's 56-day program and lifetime maintenance mode: momentum and friction evolve as mean-reverting stochastic processes, program stages follow a semi-Markov machine with hazard-based dropout, return, and absorbing churn/graduation outcomes, events are emitted on a circadian, heavy-tailed schedule, and each persona carries a banded, non-clinical metabolic context. Coaching interventions are first-class inputs with simulated causal consequences; any trajectory can be replayed with selected interventions removed — an act/observe/counterfactual experiment loop. Every dataset release passes a nine-check statistical fidelity gate with blocking thresholds, a five-role review process, immutable publication with recorded lineage, and a public data card stating what the data is and is not. The system contains zero real member records by construction; the synthetic label is enforced at the database layer, not by policy alone.
What the Report Covers
- The simulation (Section 4). One tick is a four-hour window of synthetic life; the live cohort holds 264 personas. Identities combine eight behavioral archetypes, six program pathways, twelve human-context traits, and a five-band non-clinical metabolic baseline. Momentum and friction follow Ornstein–Uhlenbeck dynamics; stages follow a per-archetype semi-Markov machine with hazard-based dropout, return, and absorbing churn/graduation; events are circadian and heavy-tailed.
- Interventions and counterfactual replay (Section 5). The act/observe/counterfactual triple: schedule a typed intervention, observe its simulated consequences, then replay the identical life with the intervention skipped. Per-field RNG stream isolation makes the with/without difference exactly the intervention's causal effect in the model.
- The nine-check fidelity gate (Section 6). F1 trait marginals, F2 designed correlations, F3 undesigned independence, F4 autocorrelation decay, F5 heavy-tailed activity, F6 stage occupancy and retention, F7 inter-arrival dispersion, F8 circadian structure, F9 intervention causality — with definitions, thresholds, and reference-release results disclosed, including a gate run that failed four checks and how it was corrected without changing thresholds.
- Governance (Section 7). Five-role review with lineage-bound approvals, immutable publication verified by checksums and manifest hashes, per-release data cards carrying the fidelity status string self_consistent_stochastic_simulation_not_calibrated_to_real_cohorts, access audit, and an adversarial negative test suite.
- Privacy and ethics (Section 8). Zero real member records by construction — no synthetic persona is derived from any real person. Member data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to calibrate the Lab; future calibration is gated behind separate opt-in consent infrastructure that does not yet exist.
- Limitations (Section 9). Stated without hedging: structural realism only (not calibrated to real cohorts), designed causality (not measured human responses), hand-curated content, representation caveats, single-program scope, no learned components, fixed-seed sensitivity, and advisory checks that stay advisory.
Claims Discipline
The environment models program journeys, not patients. The Lab and this report make no medical, diagnostic, treatment, or monitoring claim and produce no output about any real person. Personas are synthetic and fictional and are labeled as such on every surface; metabolic context is banded and non-clinical. All personas, events, and trajectories described in this report are synthetic and fictional; no real member data was used in the construction, evaluation, or operation of the environment described here.
